Martha Featherstone           

Headteacher

Ms Featherstone has worked as a teacher for 20 years and joined SGHS in 2022.  Ms Featherstone is a strong believer in the power of education to transform lives and is proud to lead a school of empowered and empowering individuals.  She loves any opportunity to be in a classroom with students and talking about books.

Fiona McMillan

Deputy Headteacher

Mrs McMillan has worked at SGHS for over 30 years. As deputy head, she is responsible for safeguarding and the smooth running of school life.  Mrs McMillan is an accomplished badminton player and there is nothing that she does not know about Skipton Girls’ High School!

Victoria Fox

Assistant Headteacher

Vicky Fox has worked at Skipton Girls’ High School for nearly a decade, her time spent in various roles, including the leadership of English and Communications, more widely in two trust leadership roles and, most recently, leading professional learning as Assistant Headteacher.  Her current role includes the line management of a range of subjects across the curriculum, supporting Learning Directors in their design and delivery.  She is passionate about learning and knowledge and particularly loves reading and teaching 19th century literature.

Jessica Holdsworth

Assistant Headteacher

Ms Holdsworth has worked in education for the past 25 years, specializing in A Level Psychology teaching, personal development, pastoral care and mental health. She believes in creating an educational experience that is child-centered, inclusive, and that truly celebrates and nurtures the growth and development of every child. She loves working with young people to inspire them to understand themselves and each other better.

Rebecca Lofthouse

Associate Assistant Headteacher

Director of Data and Digital Technologies  Mrs Lofthouse has been a teacher for 9 years, all of which have been spent at SGHS, following a career in Business Development & Web Marketing. Mrs Lofthouse is our sustainability lead in school and is currently exploring ways to develop the whole school offering to embrace more climate change education and outdoor learning opportunities, including a new sustainability research centre. As a Computing specialist, she enjoys leading the Robotics and the Engineers of the Future in exciting new projects and competitions.

Geraldine Townend

Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Townend has worked at SGHS for over 20 years in a variety of roles joining in 2002 as a history teacher - SGHS runs through her core.  Mrs Townend is driven by the profound belief that education truly can transform lives, expand opportunities and broaden horizons. The thing she loves the most is working with young people to help them grow and thrive to go out into the world as the best version of themselves.

Jo Roscoe

Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Roscoe has over two decades of experience in helping young people understand the mysteries of the world through Chemistry. Mrs Roscoe works closely with the sixth form team and is responsible for curriculum development and assessment and reporting. She likes nothing more than a challenging puzzle and can always be counted upon to find several solutions to a problem!

Joanne Busfield

Business Manager

Mrs Busfield leads the operations of both our school and Greatwood Community Primary School. She oversees a range of areas including finance, catering, the school estate, and the coordination of associate staff. With her in-depth knowledge of the school’s day-to-day functions, she ensures everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Mrs Busfield is a key part of our team, supporting both staff and students behind the scenes.
